What you should no longer do the evening before: watch new tech videos or play through disasters in your head. Your skills won't change in the last twelve hours \u2013 your sleep will.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-mffr101h1 mff-h2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"mffr101h1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" id=\"abschnitt-2\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Arrival and paperwork<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-mffr101t1 mff-art-text elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"mffr101t1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>You usually meet your driving instructor a little earlier \u2013 many learner drivers do a short [drive\/warm-up] before the test <strong>Warm-up session<\/strong>, to get both machine and nerves up to operating temperature; that's not a must, but a good investment. At the test location, the examiner will greet you and check your <strong>Identity card<\/strong> and the paperwork. In total, for the examination <strong>70 minutes<\/strong> scheduled (at 60 minutes for the practical test), of which at least 30 minutes is actual driving time \u2013 the rest is made up of the greeting, vehicle safety check, basic driving manoeuvres and the debrief. By the way, the examiner is not your enemy: they want to see that you drive safely \u2013 not that you are perfect.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-mffr101h2 mff-h2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"mffr101h2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" id=\"abschnitt-3\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The pre-departure check<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-mffr101t2 mff-art-text elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"mffr101t2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Before setting off, the examiner will randomly ask you <strong>two or three questions about the bike itself<\/strong>Tyres (tread depth, tyre pressure), chain (tension, lubrication), brakes (lever travel, fluid level), test all lights, demonstrate the engine kill switch \u2013 all things you will have picked up along the way from your driving lessons. The important context: <strong>An uncertain answer is not a ground for failure<\/strong>; the vehicle safety check is factored into the overall assessment, but it is not a knock-out criterion. After that, helmet on, radio check \u2013 and it's time for the basic riding exercises.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-mffr101h3 mff-h2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"mffr101h3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" id=\"abschnitt-4\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The basic riding manoeuvres<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-mffr101t3 mff-art-text elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"mffr101t3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>On a smooth surface you drive the <strong>basic driving exercises<\/strong>: for direct entry and when extending an existing licence <strong>six<\/strong>, in the promotion exam <strong>four<\/strong> \u2013 which ones is up to the examiner (slalom, emergency braking and swerving are compulsory, alongside alternatives such as riding at walking pace or stop-and-go). The most reassuring rule of the day: <strong>You can repeat up to three failed manoeuvres once each.<\/strong> So a wobble isn't a disaster \u2013 take a quick moment to gather yourself, then have another go. You lead the way \u2013 <strong>the examiner follows in the car along with your driving instructor<\/strong> and tells you the route <strong>by radio<\/strong> (\u201eTurn right at the next junction\u201c). Three things that many people don't know: <strong>Asking questions is allowed<\/strong> and no error if an announcement was unclear. If no announcement comes, the following applies: <strong>follow the road<\/strong>. And a single small mistake doesn't end anything \u2013 the overall picture of your drive is assessed: looking ahead and checking your blind spot, right of way, speed appropriate to the situation (lively where the road is clear \u2013 driving too hesitantly is a common mistake!), following distance, lane selection. Drive like in a good driving lesson, not like in a special performance.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-mffr101h5 mff-h2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"mffr101h5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" id=\"abschnitt-6\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The result \u2013 and what happens next<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-mffr101t5 mff-art-text elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"mffr101t5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Back at the starting point, there is the result <strong>immediately<\/strong>, with a brief explanation. If you pass, depending on the region, the examiner hands you the directly <strong>photographic driving licence<\/strong> or a <strong>provisional test certificate<\/strong> off \u2013 you are allowed to drive from this moment (the certificate is valid domestically). Remember on the first day: For first-time licence holders, the <strong>two-year probation period<\/strong>. And if it doesn't work out: the examiner will tell you the reason \u2013 listen carefully, because that is the basis for your second attempt. The test is a driving lesson with an audience.<\/strong> You're driving the same roads, the same machine, with your driving instructor behind you \u2013 the only new thing is a listener in the car. Drive the routine, not the show. <strong>The next mistake is allowed.<\/strong> If someone mentally gives up after a wobble (\u201enow everything's ruined anyway\u201c), that's when they make the actual mistakes. Examiners assess the overall picture \u2013 a calm and confident reaction to a small mistake is actually a plus point. <strong>3. Breathe at every red traffic light.<\/strong> Red traffic light phases are built-in breaks: relax your shoulders, take a deep breath, sort your thoughts.
