Protectors at the shoulders and elbows are not compulsory, but we strongly recommend them.<\/li><li><strong>Back protector:<\/strong> separate or integrated into the jacket \u2013 integrated is fine as long as it's truly built in (check with cheaper jackets!).<\/li><li><strong>Motorcycle trousers<\/strong> proper motorcycle trousers \u2013 normal jeans won\u2019t do. We strongly recommend protectors at the knees and hips.<\/li><li><strong>Boots or sturdy, ankle-high footwear:<\/strong> ankle protection is the decisive factor \u2013 trainers and low shoes fail.<\/li><\/ul><p>Individual testing centres interpret the list with varying degrees of strictness \u2013 the safe approach is: genuine motorcycle clothing instead of borderline cases. So it is best to get your own equipment, if only because fit and familiarity matter.
