If so, after completing a training course of at least nine sessions in Germany, you\u2019ll be allowed to ride light motorcycles with an engine capacity of up to 125 cm\u00b3 \u2013 without having to take a driving test. The B196 is not a separate driving licence, but an endorsement on your Class B licence.<\/p><p>You don't have a category B licence yet? Three values are decisive, all of which must be met at the same time:<\/p>\n  <ul class=\"b196-liste\" style=\"margin:16px 0 0\">\n    <li>at most <b>125 cubic centimetres<\/b> engine capacity<\/li>\n    <li>at most <b>11 kW<\/b> Engine power<\/li>\n    <li>a power-to-weight ratio not exceeding <b>0,1 kW\/kg<\/b><\/li>\n  <\/ul>\n  <p style=\"margin:16px 0 0\">A vehicle that crosses one of these boundaries is not covered \u2013 not even if it is colloquially sold as a 125cc.<\/p><div class=\"b196-hin\"><b>Three-wheeled motor vehicles are not included in the B196 extension.<\/b> You don't need those anyway: domestically you are already allowed to drive them with your category B licence \u2013 though for an engine power of more than 15 kW only from the age of 21.<\/div><div class=\"b196-hin\"><b>Electric light motorcycles can also be covered by the B196 licence.<\/b> The details entered in the vehicle documents are decisive <b>maximum continuous rated power of 11 kW or less<\/b>, the power-to-weight ratio of no more than 0.1 kW\/kg and the vehicle class \u2013 not the marketing name \u201eelectric 125cc equivalent\u201c. This is not a matter of individual neighbouring countries, but applies generally: it is a national regulation that other states are not obliged to recognise.<\/p>\n  <p style=\"margin:16px 0 0\">Anyone wanting to ride a 125cc motorbike on holiday or while travelling needs a regular driving licence category \u2013 namely the <a href=\"\/en\/category-a1\/\">Class A1<\/a> or a higher motorcycle class.
